This project is very close to my own heart as the concept came from when my father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Throughout these years I have had first-hand experience with disability and I believe that the connotations so widely considered as fact are incorrect. Capability is a photographic series about the strength and power of individuals with prosthetics or amputations.
Questioning the definition of ‘Disability’ and how they are presented within the UK, the project focuses on collaborating with a group of individuals who have either been born without a limb or lost one. This project depicts their amazing capabilities and remarkable strength.
The project will be a collection of stories from each model and showing them with their amputations and prosthetics on display. To make this project a reality, I will be travelling around the UK to each model, spending a day with them to explore their strength through an activity of their choice.
